Windows 8 Mock Up - Part 1

Well, here's part of my crack at a Windows 8 mock up. This just represents what I'd like to see from Windows 8 personally. The collapsed ribbon replaces the menu bar and is shown below the navigation bar in Windows Explorer. The folders on the side bar are reminiscent of Windows Vista's Explorer with collapsible categories. A small scroll bar is displayed until hover. Of course, I added back the "Start Button" on the task bar. System notifications have been removed from the notification area to their own bar, as such with Windows Phone 7.

As for the Metro Start Screen, I will work on a concept for this as well. As a preview though, the start screen will simply overlay on top of the desktop instead of switching screen with the task bar hidden. Really, just and attempt to make the whole UI just a little less disjointed.
